I am the proud daughter of a geek father, and have reaped the benefits my entire life. At the tender age of 6 my father was already reading my LOTR, complete with scary Orc voices and goofy hobbit voices, and if I was ever upset, he would recite a Monty Python sketch (from memory) till I couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't have asked for a better relationship with my parents (my moms a total geek too), and after years of trying to (unsuccessfully) deny my geekdom, i embrace it. I agree with that entire list, and applaud your geek pride. I know in my heart I will eventually be marrying a geek, producing little geek babies, and have the geekiest family known to man, and I'm super excited :)

I'm a teenager, but I always worry about these things like mad. I try hard to retain what I'm thinking for future use. I feel bad saying it, but I would be a touch sad if my children didnt grow up to be geeks. And like Lukie said, I hate the thought of falling into a clique and losing myself in the process, thereby losing potentially losing all emotional sensitivities in the process.

When my kids (now grown and knee-deep in geekiness) were growing up, I could admit to having set fire to a 100 year old barn and a classic automobile with an errant Estes rocket.

They also had a Dad who knew the XT computer inside and out ... and hopped it up with additional ram, math co-processor and souped up CPU. One of the first Dads on the block with a real HD (40 meg!) and a color monitor.

Now Dad blogs and has commissioned Son #1 to write some software for me.

Yeah, having a geeky Dad isn't all bad. ;-)

I recently listened to a podcast--perhaps the best and geekiest (called RADIOLAB), which said that the less aggressive male baboons actually fathered a lot more babies because the chicks liked spending time with them when they weren't in heat.

Of course, when they're horny, they still go after the "Alpha-betas," not the Lambda, Lambda, Lambdas.

But, the rest of the time--Gilbert and Wormser have got it made.

I'm just a teenager and I'm already pretty geeky (as my friends and family love to mention continuously) but I really hope to continue my geekiness and not succumb to the temptation of being one of the "cool kids"; I shudder at the thought actually.
If I ever have kids I'd do everything in my power to make sure they're as geeky as me ^_^
I'm so glad my sister sent this site to me . . . though I wonder how she found it because she is considerably less geeky than myself.

Cheers to the geek fathers who mention their geek daughters, and shame on the geeks like Diego and Birdy only looking forward to raising sons. I pity them and any daughters they have and treat as second class.

The gorgeous geek I married would never treat children unfairly or unkindly.

Hey, not all geeks are nerds either, so that's another good reason to seek one out. My husband is a geek, but he's also a hottie, he's awesome at every sport he plays, and he knows how to throw a great party, too. Oh, and he really is a great Dad. I think he's a keeper.

Met my geek husband 42 years ago when some guys at the University of Texas engineering dept. put together a computer dating program. Cost $5 for 10 matches. We have raised two geek sons and are expecting our first grandchild in Nov. All of us, including my 94 year old father in law and my 84 year old mother have had computers since the late seventies.

I remember being thrilled to get a 286 machine and watching the "Centipede" race to the bottom.
So much faster than my first machine.

My kids will def always have all the latest videogames and systems.....and we'll beat all the games first so we can decide what's suitable for their age, and we can help them through some of the more "adult content" when they get old enough.

it's nice to know that i'll never have to worry about my kids having problems differenciating between killing in games and killing IRL.

And of course they'll always have awesome class projects with a little help!

Thank God I married a geek! I couldnt live without my Myth box! Regular TV? No thanks, Id rather have a geek! My computer is never down. I never worry about cheating. I never worry about divorce. And I dont have to worry about homework with the kids. So marrying a geek is not so bad after all!

I always watching a tv shows the beauty * the geek and I'm proud to say that Geek people are excellent.. they are talented unlike other people, there's nothing to do with their own life but to discriminate others..shame for themselves ( bighead people)
